An Armenian delegation headed by Speaker of the RA Parliament Hovik Abrahamyan has left for an official visit to the Republic of Korea today. The Armenian delegation includes Head of the RA National Assembly Staff Gegham Gharibjanyan, Parliament members Hovhannes Margaryan (Country of Law Party), Armen Abrahamyan (Prosperous Armenia Party) and Ara Nranyan (Armenian Revolutionary Federation).

The Information and Public Relations Department, RA Parliament, told NEWS.am that Speaker Abrahamyan held a meeting Seoul with Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Chung Un-chan. During the meeting Hovik Abrahamyan pointed out some progress in the bilateral trade and economic relations over recent years. However, the major part of bilateral trade is through the third countries. In this context, the Armenian NA Speaker pointed out the importance of direct contacts between Armenian and Korean businessmen. Hovik Abrahamyan pointed out Armenia’s interest in IT development, and, considering South Korean experience in the field, proposed that bilateral cooperation, particularly the retraining of specialists and implementation of join projects.

In his turn, the South Korean Premier pointed out the priority of developing education, cultural and scientific cooperation. Both Armenia and Korea, which have no rich natural resources, have achievements in economy and in other fields due to intellectual potential, stated Chung Un-chan.

The sides also discussed the issue of overcoming the global financial crisis, implementation of joint programs and other issues of mutual interest.

The Armenian delegation also visited the Samsung Electronics Company.
