Russia-NATO Council meeting will be held at the level of Foreign Ministers this Friday, Dec. 4 in Brussels. This is the first meeting after last year’s Russian-Georgian conflict, when relations between Moscow and NATO deteriorated.

According to Russia’s envoy to NATO Dmitry Rogozin, three strategic documents are prepared for the scheduled meeting. The first document is a working program for coming year, the next one — imposition to launch the consideration of total threat and last one — the improvement of Russia-NATO Council activities and its structural changes. As he outlined, all three documents are endorsed and need to be approved by the ministers, adding that Russia’s stances are taken into account.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Brussels last Tuesday.

Negotiations between NATO leadership and states’ representatives who wish to join alliance, including Ukraine and Georgia were held a day before. Following the meeting, NATO restated its support to Georgian territorial integrity, emphasizing that countries’ membership to NATO will be possible once they conform to alliance standards.
