Lenin’s statue located in Moscow’s Klimashkin street has been pulled down and beheaded, Life reports.

The statue without head was discovered on the ground Tuesday. According to the newspaper, a piece of rope, which was used to pull down the statue, as well as a paper with a rebus containing clues to answers, was found nearby.

The police are checking the information on vandalism. At the same time, workers of community services say that the statue fell down as a result of strong wind.

The representatives of Moscow’s Central District prefecture told Rossiyskaya Gazeta that the statue installed in the yard was never considered as Lenin, having been included in no register. According to them, it is a small architectural form.   

As per several media outlets, which Izvestiya cites, Lenin’s damaged statue once used to be a sculpture embodying Stalin, whose head was replaced by that of proletariat leader Lenin in the years of struggle against  personality cult.
