YEREVAN. – Armenia’s first specialized bicycle parking lot officially opened on Saturday at the grounds of Yerevan State University Department of Physical Education and Sport. 

This lot, where seventeen bikes can be parked at the same time, was built by the Bicycle Plus Eco sporting organization, with funding by the Open Society Institute. A total of AMD 300 thousand (approx. US$ 770) were spent for this project.   

As per the Bicycle Plus Eco’s President Samvel Hovhannisyan, the next bicycle parking lot is planned to be opened on the grounds of the French University in Armenia.   

According to him, the opening of Armenia’s first-ever specialized bicycle parking lot could become “contagious” in the country.
