Abkhazia's acting president Valery Bganba has sent a letter to president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with a request to recognize sovereignty and independence of Abkhazia.
The document was published on the website of Apsnipress, an Abkhazian news agency, on Thursday.
Abkhazia's independence has been recognized by Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Nauru.
“Recognition of the Republic of Abkhazia is in full compliance with the modern realities of international relations,” the document says.
