The general staffs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries have prepared a concept for the development of their national armed forces until 2020.

The chief of the Russian Federation General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, told the aforesaid to reporters at the end of Wednesday’s meeting of the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff of the CIS member countries.

“All positions on this matter are agreed upon, and we hope that this concept will be adopted in fall, at the Council of the Presidents of the CIS countries,” said Gerasimov, reported RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

The participants in the meeting also discussed the participation of troops in the field, aerial, and naval skills of the military units of the CIS armed forces.

Delegations from Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan attended the meeting of the abovementioned committee.
