YEREVAN. - “You Won’t Pass” initiative struggling against constitutional reforms in Armenia has passed to the stage of mobilization of forces, trying to unite all the other parties concerned.

The initiative member Arshak Musakhanyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am they have already had meetings with Armenian National Congress, several NGOs, as well as “Stand up, Armenia” and “No to Plunder” initiatives.

“The struggle has entered a very interesting and serious stage. We are moving forward step by step. Now is the stage of mobilizing the forces. Then we will hold awareness actions, pickets, and our struggle will become more active in September,” Arshak Musakhanyan said.

The initiative which has been existing for 8 months follows one principle: non legitimate authorities have no right to initiate constitutional reforms and pass them by a non-operating elective system.

According to Musakhanyan, the struggle against such changes will involve a large number of people, since the draft of the reforms has disappointed many of them.

According to the research carried out by the initiative, if the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) manages to make 600 thousand citizens vote in favor of the reforms, it will be possible to pass them. Considering this, the initiative is discussing two ways of struggle: either to not participate in the referendum and boycott it or participate and start a post-electoral process in case of rigged results.
