YEREVAN. – The 31st meeting of the Ministerial Conference of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) is getting underway Saturday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia. 

In addition, the 96th meeting of the Permanent Council of the Francophonie will be convened in parallel with the aforesaid event. 

The two-day meeting will be held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, where Armenian exhibitions and pavilions are also organized.

The conference began with the welcoming ceremony.

Foreign ministers of the eighty OIF member and observer countries from five continents were invited.  

Around five hundred representatives from the OIF member states and its Secretariat have arrived in Yerevan to attend this event.

In parallel with this conference, OIF Secretary-General Michaëlle Jean is paying an official visit to Armenia.

The main cultural event of the 31st meeting of the OIF Ministerial Conference will be Saturday’s concert by world-renowned French Armenian singer, songwriter, actor, public activist, and diplomat Charles Aznavour.

In addition, music bands from France and Haiti will perform in Yerevan and in Gyumri city.

To note, the 31st meeting of the OIF Ministerial Conference has coincided with Yerevan’s 2,797th anniversary celebrations.
