YEREVAN. – Armenia is steadfast in its commitment to the promotion of the values that unite the Francophone family.

President Serzh Sargsyan stated the abovementioned at his talk Monday with Michaëlle Jean, Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).

Sargsyan also noted that he is happy because this talk of theirs is taking place within the framework of the 31st meeting of the OIF Ministerial Conference, which capital city Yerevan hosted, Press Office of the President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. In his words, this OIF event in Armenia was of particular importance for the country, and it was a great honor and responsibility to host this most important meeting.

Serzh Sargsyan stressed that Armenia is an active member state of the OIF, and assured that the country attaches great importance to cooperation with this organization, its partner institutions, and the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie.

Jean, for her part, thanked for organizing this meeting of the OIF Ministerial Conference at a high level in Armenia, and also for the warm hospitality.

The OIF Secretary-General noted that this organization is an alliance of countries that share common values, and Armenia has a special and important place in this alliance. She assured that new opportunities and horizons are opening for broad collaboration along the lines of the OIF.

Michaëlle Jean also presented her views with respect to Armenia’s place and role in the prospect of, and great opportunities for development within, the International Organisation of La Francophonie.
