YEREVAN. – The European Union (EU) hopes that the forthcoming parliamentary election in Armenia will be conducted on the firm international and legal basis, and will become a big boost to the further development of the country.

Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, on Monday told the aforementioned to reporters.

As per the European official, the EU tends to believe that the 2017 parliamentary voting in Armenia will be held on the basis of a good Electoral Code, which will reflect the recommendations by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

Also, head of the EU Delegation to Armenia urged the country’s authorities to consider the upcoming parliamentary election as impetus for the political, democratic, and economic development of Armenia.

Świtalski added that he has seen a lot of commonalities during his talks with the country’s authorities and the opposition members, and received many signals that the Electoral Code of Armenia will be agreed upon in a very righteous, professional, and accountable manner.
