YEREVAN. - After the tragic events of 1 March 2008, the Armenian community lost faith in judicial system.

Armenian National Congress (ANC) MP Gagik Jhangiyan stated the aforesaid in the parliament today.

According to him, the Investigative Committee hasn’t so far issued conclusion on shooting at peaceful demonstrators. Lawfulness of bringing the Armed Forces against the demonstrators, as well as the illegal armed groups didn’t become a subject of discussion. “Similarly, nobody found out who equipped them with weapons and how this was done. The citizens have lost faith in the judicial system and pin their hopes only on the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). The state can’t refrain from punishing for murders, regardless of the motives behind them and who they were aimed at. Our country must clear its skirts, fairly punishing those guilty,” Jhangiryan stressed.

8 demonstrators and 2 militaries of internal troops died as a result of a resistance on 1 March 2008.
