YEREVAN. – Armenia, as a party in the 1994 ceasefire agreement, will continue completely fulfilling its obligations to ensure the security of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh.

President Serzh Sargsyan on Monday noted the abovementioned at his meeting—at the Office of the President—with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) member countries’ ambassadors to Armenia.

“Moreover, I have instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work with Nagorno-Karabakh, on signing a military mutual assistance agreement,” he added.

In Sargsyan’s words, further escalation of the ongoing hostilities at the Karabakh conflict zone can lead to unpredictable and irreversible consequences, even a full-scale war.

“This, naturally will impact the security and stability of not solely the South Caucasus, but also the European region,” the Armenian President stressed. “It is apparent that the cessation of military actions and, in general, the pacific resolution of the [Karabakh] conflict, stem from the interests of European countries, too.”
