YEREVAN. – The Investigative Committee of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that Ministry of Defense serviceman, Sergeant Hakob Gevorgyan, was admitted to the medical center of a military unit on Wednesday at around 3:30pm, with a stab wound to his chest. But he died at around 3:55pm, en route to the Meghri town medical center.
On the same day, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case into this incident, and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances behind the death of this soldier.
According to preliminary investigation, there was an argument—on the day of the incident—between Gevorgyan and Private G. Kosoboglyan, another serviceman of the same military unit. Subsequently, the argument had turned into a fight, during which Kosoboglyan had stabbed Gevorgyan in the chest.
Private Kosoboglyan was detained on Thursday, and on suspicion of committing murder based on hooliganism.
The respective investigation is still in progress.
