The commander of U.S. Central Command, General Joseph Votel rejected accusations of Ankara that he supports the coup attempt in Turkey. Votel made the statement after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the remarks of U.S. general concerning the fact that some militaries with whom U.S. conducted cooperation appeared in prison, Voice of America reported.

He noted that all his previous statements concerning his alleged involvement coup attempt in Turkey are completely wrong and added that Turkey was an outstanding and important partner in the region for many years. He also said that they hope for future cooperation in fight against ISIS.
