It is in the United States’ interests to better relations with Armenia, Western analysts told the Voice of America Armenian service.

As per American Foreign Policy Council analyst Stephen Blank, Washington and the European countries have strategic interests in the South Caucasus, and these interests need to be strengthened.
In his view, the West should pay greater attention to the three South Caucasus countries (Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan).
In the analyst’s words, first and foremost, this concerns the efforts toward resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh Artsakh) conflict, since the active US engagement in this matter is a guarantee for achieving peace.
According to Blank, the Karabakh conflict settlement cannot be left solely under the responsibility of Moscow because in that case, the conflict will never be resolved, since Russia wishes to see a manageable conflict in Karabakh.
University of Oxford (England) lecturer Samuel Ramani spoke about Armenia’s unique role for the US. As per, Ramani, Armenia is a more reliable partner for the US than Azerbaijan.
He recalled that, from the South Caucasus countries, it is Armenia that has had the most stable foreign policy, over the course of the past decades; and, being a member in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), it repeatedly has assisted in the US peacekeeping missions in Europe and the Middle East.
