YEREVAN. - Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan considers correct the deal of conceding to Gazprom 20 percent share of the Armenian Government in Hayrusgazard.

Karapetyan said the aforementioned in the National Assembly (NA) on Wednesday, responding to the question of MP Tigran Urikhanyan as to whether he doesn't find it illogical for the Government to pay for something from its assets.

''I see nothing illogical in that you can pay by your assets against something, especialy when you are [thereby] reducing the foreign debt,'' the PM said.

Karapetyan also noted that he doesn't agree with the observation that that deal caused Gazprom to raise the gas tariff for Armenia. ''In all times, the gas price for Armenia has been the lowest possible in the region. Never has the gas been delivered to Armenia at a price which was not the cheapest in the region.''

To the MP's observation that he worked in Gazprom at the moment of making the aforementioned deal and thus took part in it, Karapetan noted: ''I was a member of the Board of Directors at Gazprom and also a manager in three organizations. None of the three had anything to do with Armenia. I didn't take part in that deal. But I reiterate, I consider that deal logical.''
