Famous French-Armenian singer Charles Aznabour said that he started from scratch, he had to study everything on his own: music, literature, acting skills.

Legendary chansonnier Charles Aznavour told “Chastniy Korrespondent” newspaper the story of his family.

“Probably, all my life is a victory over myself. I started everything from scratch. I had to study everything on my own: music, literature, acting skills. At that time schooling was not free of charge. Our family was poor and I had to leave the school. And since that moment I had to comprehend everything in my life myself,” Aznavour noted.

Asked what is the main Armenian character that he has, the chansonnier noted his diligence.

“I do not believe in inspiration, I believe in sweat. Like master I shape each word, I perfect each phrase. If I need to spend days, weeks or even months to find the right phrase, I persistently look for it,” he said.

In his spare time, Aznavour reads newspapers, book s or watches movies.
