The 39th session of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) General Conference is held at the organization’s headquarters in Paris.

At the event, it was decided to put the 150th birth anniversaries of renowned Armenian priest, musicologist, composer, arranger, singer, and choirmaster Komitas (Soghomon Soghomonian) and of great Armenian poet, writer, translator, literary and public activist Hovhannes Tumanyan on UNESCO’s 2018-2019 calendar of anniversaries of great personalities and historic events.

Ever since 1998, a total of 23 anniversaries submitted by Armenia have been put on this calendar.
