The implementation of the contract on the supply of the Turkish S-400 anti-aircraft missile system will begin after Ankara covers all financial resources, said official representative of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of Russia during the exhibition, RIA Novosti reported.

Moscow and Ankara reached agreement on the supplies of S- 400 system to Turkey and signed a contract on September 12. President Erdogan said Turkey had made the first payment for S-400.

Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Defense Industry Ismail Demir stated the supply of S-400 systems to Turkey would begin within two years.

Later, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu said Ankara had not received an official refusal from Moscow on joint production of S-400. 

S-400 Triumph is an air defence missile system , designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, within the range of 400km, at an altitude of up to 30km.

The S-400 Triumph system was adopted by the Russian army in 2007.
