STEPANAKERT. – In connection with the 29th anniversary of the devastating earthquake that hit Armenia, Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR) President Bako Sahakyan on Thursday visited the NKR capital city Stepanakert Memorial, and laid a wreath at the monument to the innocent victims of this natural disaster.

Sahakyan was accompanied by top officials of the country, Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The said earthquake occurred on December 7, 1988, at 11:41am local time. According to official figures, the disaster claimed around 25 thousand lives, about 19 thousand people became disabled, and close to 530 thousand others were left homeless.
