More than 50 people were injured after the earthquake in the province of Kerman in eastern Iran, Xinhua news agency reported.

According to the agency, 55 people were injured. In a number of villages, the supply of electricity and water is ceased. Schools and universities of the city of Kerman were closed on Tuesday. There will be no classes on Wednesday.

Earlier it was reported that an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred in the east of Iran at 21.41 UTC. The hearth of the earthquake lay at a depth of 40 kilometers.
