The meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders should not be an end in itself, it must be meaningful, Armenian MFA spokesperson Tigran Balayan told reporters on Wednesday.

His remark came in response to comment on the possible meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani Presdient Ilham Aliyev.

For this, Azerbaijan should start fulfilling the agreements, said Balayan referring to the agreements reached at the summits after the April aggression.

“This is the introduction of mechanisms for investigating incidents and expanding the Kasprzyk group,” he said adding “the meeting should not be an end in itself, it should be meaningful.”

Asked to comment  on the possibility of granting Azerbaijan observer status to the CSTO and Eurasian Economic Union, Balayan noted it is impossible now, since Azerbaijan does not comply with the parameters set by the basic documents of these organizations.
