Three people were charged in drug smuggling case which also involved Iranian nationals. 

According to Investigation Committee, a man from Yerevan reached a preliminary agreement with an Iranian national on purchasing and transporting a batch of drugs amounting to $5,000 to Armenia.

According to the agreement, an Iranian citizen purchased methamphetamine in the amount of 541,745 drams. His compatriot promised to transport drugs to Armenia for $1,200. They decided to transport drugs as a liquid in plastic containers. Drugs were imported in Armenia on July 6, 2018 through the Meghri checkpoint. The investigation revealed that the 56-year-old Iranian citizen also imported marijuana, hashish, and opium. His compatriot kept methadone for his own use.

All three will stand a trial.
