A tear gas grenade exploded in the building of the Israeli Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem resulting in several security guards injured, the local police reported on Sunday, UrduPoint News reported.

According to preliminary data, the explosion occurred in the ministry's store of grenades.

The police are working at the scene to investigate the causes of the incident.

All the ministry's employees were instructed to turn off air conditioning to ensure that tear gas did not spread to other parts of the ministerial building. According to the police, evacuation from the building was not required.
