NATO will continue its partnership with Yerevan. This is what NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai declared during a March 11 press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, Armenia is making a major contribution to the ensuring of stability and security in Afghanistan and added that Armenia is also carrying out a peacekeeping mission under the auspices of the United Nations. “I told the defense minister that cooperation with NATO also helps Armenia carry out its missions beyond the framework of the Alliance effectively,” Appathurai said.

Appathurai also mentioned that the defense sector can be subject to corruption risks in any country and informed that an agreement on cooperation in the fight against corruption was reached during the meeting with Armenia’s government officials.
