For over three months, a church in the Netherlands held nonstop services to keep the Tamrazyans from being sent back to Armenia.

The Tamrazyan family and their three children of 21, 19 and 15, have got Dutch residence permit.

The Rev. Theo Hettema, a church spokesperson, told HuffPost that they are “very glad” for the Tamrazyans.

According to him, they hope that the new policy of the authorities will lead to a more humane attitude towards the refugees.

The Tamrazyans have lived in the Netherlands for nine years. According to representatives of the church, they were afraid to return to Armenia, as this poses a threat to the father, Sasun Tamrazyan amid his political activism.

As reported earlier, in January, the coalition government of the Netherlands agreed to grant residence rights for 630 refugee children.
