NATO does not seek to isolate Russia, and wants to improve relations with Moscow, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said during his address before a joint session of the US Congress on Wednesday.
In his speech, Stoltenberg stressed that NATO does not want a new arms race or a new Cold War, Sputnik reported.
"We do not want to isolate Russia. We strive for a better relationship with Russia. But even without a better relationship, we need to manage a difficult one," Stoltenberg said.
According to him, NATO has no intention to deploy land-based nuclear missiles in Europe. "But NATO will always take necessary steps for ensuring reliable and effective control", - he emphasized.
