YEREVAN. – Robert Manukyan, the brother of former MP, businessman Melik Manukyan—a.k.a. Shshi Melo, has filed a crime report with the Special Investigation Service of Armenia. Manukyan’s attorney, Hovsep Sargsyan, told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Robert Manukyan was detained on August 3 but released Monday, along the lines of the criminal case into unlawfully removing the car from the scene of the murder attempt against Melik Manukyan.

Robert Manukyan demands to launch a criminal case on police violence against him, to give a criminal and legal assessment on unlawful actions by police, and to recognize Manukyan as an injured party in this case.

According to the investigation, Melik Manukyan’s bodyguard, Markos Markosyan, had removed the car from the scene at the prompting of Robert Manukyan.

On August 2 at about 12:20pm, police received a call that an explosion had occurred on a bridge on the Yerevan-Sevan motorway highway, and as a result, a Ranger Rover and Nissan Patrol, which were traveling on that motorway at the time, were damaged.

A criminal case was launched in connection with the incident, and on charges of attempted murder.

According to reports, the aforesaid Range Rover belongs to Melik Manukyan.

A glass container manufacturing plant belonging to Manukyan is located in the vicinity.

There were no casualties and injuries in the incident.
