The Youth Union of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun political party’s Armenia Chapter has addressed the Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia factions of the National Assembly with the proposal to launch the impeachment of Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan.
The application particularly reads as follows:
As you know, it has already been a long time since the policy of the government on education, science, culture and sport sparked doubts and uprising. Actions are being taken against the value system and national institutions of the country without a comprehensive concept paper.
Young Armenians are spearheading the uprising against the approaches of the minister and his supportive political team and the actions against the national identity.
Cultural figures, scholars and professors, representatives of the academic community and many reputable people are against the several actions and the policy of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport. Instead of seeing positive changes in these sectors over the past one-and-a-half years following shift of power, we are seeing the acts of government officials that offend one’s dignity and cause harm to national unity and identity and traditional values.
The organizers of the youth movement and the public at large have proposed to impeach Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan. The laws and the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia state the functions of the minister in charge of leading a policy on education, science, culture and sport, yet it is clear that the policy and actions of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia, which have sparked discontent of the public at large, do not comply with those laws and the Constitution.
Based on the abovementioned, we address you with the hope that you will implement actions provided for by the Constitution and laws and launch the process of impeaching Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan.
