Thirty-five people have been killed in Albania’s earthquake, Albanian Daily News reported referring to the country's authorities.

According to the publication, to date, about 45 people have been saved from under the rubble. Emergency workers continue search and rescue operations, TASS reported.

An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred in Albania on November 26 at around 4am local time. According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter was 10 km northwest of the city of Shiyak, located near the capital of Tirana. The hearth lay at a depth of 10 km. Shocks were also felt in Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Croatia and some southern provinces of Italy.

The Albanian government declared November 27 a nationwide day of mourning for those killed in the disaster.
