Russian President Vladimir Putin called for increased CSTO peacekeeping activities at a meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in an expanded format, RIA Novosti reported.

“Special attention is required to issues related to building up the CSTO’s peacekeeping potential and maintaining high readiness of the peacekeeping forces,” he said.

He advocated the development of regulatory and organizational documents that would allow the CSTO units to participate in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the UN.
