Today we feel good that we have an airport, but do young Armenians really know how people were protesting and showing resistance against it? This is what Levon Kocharyan, younger son of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, said during an interview on 168.am’s Pressing show, touching upon the reforms that were made in Armenia during the years of his father’s presidency.

According to him, the incumbent authorities consider the flights to and from Europe one of their achievements, but those flights would be impossible, if it wasn’t for this airport, and this is not the only example. Levon Kocharyan brought up the example of TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, stating that his father was the one who reached an agreement with Sam Simonian and allocated a territory for the Center, in spite of the opposition’s protests.

“As I look back at the history of Armenia since 1991, Armenia has never had such a good economic indicator as it did during the years of Robert Kocharyan’s presidency. The current authorities are trying to present all good things as things that had nothing to do with Robert Kocharyan and say that he was responsible for all the bad things that happened. The only years during which Armenia recorded immigration was in 2004-2006. This is the most brilliant evidence of the country’s situation,” Levon Kocharyan said.
