UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has announced the global growth of anti-Semitism in the world, UN press service reported.
His remarks came at an annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony at New York City’s historic Park East Synagogue.
"New York City saw a 21 percent rise in antisemitic hate crimes in 2019, part of a trend in cities across the country. Antisemitic incidents in Los Angeles more than doubled; Chicago recorded a 46 percent increase," he said. "The situation for Jews in Europe is, if anything, even worse. France saw a 74 percent increase in antisemitic attacks in 2018. In the United Kingdom, antisemitic attacks rose by 16 percent to a record high."
