YEREVAN. – Mher Abrahamyan, Chairman of Union of Banks of Armenia (UVA), and Seyran Sargsyan, Executive Director of UBA summed up last year's indicators of the banking system of the country within the framework of the meeting with journalists.

According to the statistics presented at the press conference, the banks' total annual capital amounted to 844.8 billion drams; compared to 2018 (771 bln.), the growth was 73 bln drams, or 9.5%.

Total assets amounted to 5.805 billion drams. Compared to 2018 (4.963 billion) the growth was 842 billion AMD or 17%.

Total liabilities amounted to AMD 4.960 billion during the reporting period. Compared to 2018 (4.192 billion) the growth was 768 billion AMD or 18.3%.

Credit Investments for 2019, according to the figures, totaled AMD 3.572 billion. 2018 Compared to the same period (3.245 billion) the growth was 327 billion AMD or 10.1%.

As a result in 2019, the banking system secured a profit of 78 billion drams. Compared to 2018 (62.2 billion) the growth was 15.8 billion drams or 25.4%.

In the banking system, the ROA was 1.34% last year and the ROE was 9.24%.

In 2019, the number of payment cards made 2 390 376, which increased by 366 306 or 18.1% compared to 2018 (2 024 070).

In 2019, 64 728 868 transactions were made with payment cards, which increased by 16 604 108 or 34.5% compared to 2018. In 2019, the volume of transactions with payment cards amounted to AMD 2 344 113 million, having increased by AMD 411 309 million or 21.3% compared to 2018.

In 2019, the number of cash transactions made 33 582 783, which is an increase of 3 472 181 or 11.5% compared to 2018. The number of non-cash transactions made 31 146 085, which increased by 13 131 927 or 72.9% compared to 2018.

In 2019, the volume of cash transactions made 1 742 091 million drams, having increased by 205 224 million drams or 13.4% compared to 2018. The volume of non-cash transactions amounted to AMD 602 022 million, having increased by AMD 206 085 million or 52% compared to 2018.

In 2019, the volume of remittances from abroad increased by $ 173 million or 9.7% compared to 2018. Foreign transfers increased by $ 267 million or 22.5% compared to 2018. The volume of transfers (net inflows) of individuals increased by $ 343 million or 57.5% compared to 2018.

Abrahamyan and Sargsyan also answered the journalists' questions, as well as outlined the program priorities for the current year and the priority directions of the system development.
