President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared that he hopes to achieve ceasefire in Syria’s Idlib after talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow on March 5.

The situation in Idlib escalated after terrorists of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham launched a large-scale offensive against Syrian government forces on February 27. In response, the Syrian army opened fire. Based on the information provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense, Turkish soldiers, who weren’t supposed to be there, were bombarded.

The bombardment took the lives of 34 Turkish servicemen and left more than 30 wounded. Russia took measures to stop fire of Syrian forces right after it received news about Turkey’s casualties and ensured safe evacuation of the deceased and wounded Turkish servicemen to Turkey.
