There is no reason for concern because it’s normal for the Prime Minister to make such decisions. This is what Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia Suren Papikyan told reporters today as he touched upon the dismissals of the director of the National Security Service, the police chief and the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

Touching upon the reasons behind this, Papikyan said the following: “There are different reasons for their dismissals. In the current stage, it could have been either upon their desire or upon the decision of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister will provide details soon.”

Asked if the Civil Contract Party has discussed the issue related to the mentioned officials and perhaps this is linked to the hardships linked to the coronavirus situation, Papikyan said there hadn’t been any discussion on complaints about the already former officials. “The government is making efforts to make the public administration system more effective. I can’t provide more details,” he said.
