YEREVAN. – The vendors of agricultural products at the market at the Kasyan-Komitas intersection in Yerevan are protesting Thursday in front of the government building.

To note, Yerevan Municipality has decided to close this agricultural market, which has been operating on weekends for many years.

The official reason is that this market has caused dissatisfaction among the residents of the adjacent buildings for years due to its unsanitary condition, noise, and restrictions on the movement of people and vehicles.

In addition, the employees of the nearby kiosks are also dissatisfied with the existence of this market, and they say that due to this market, an unlevel playing field is created.

Farmers selling their produce at this agricultural market have been offered to move to the covered market at Komitas Avenue, where an agreement has been reached with the owner of this covered market that these farmers will have free market space there on the weekends.

The farmers, however, are against this, and they demand the reopening of the agricultural market at the Kasyan-Komitas intersection.
