Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has no right to restrict activities and control the media, Hripsime Arakelyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party faction in the Council of Elders of Yerevan, told reporters on Tuesday.

Her remarks came referring to the activities of the Armenian media in the post-revolutionary period.

The current government has no right to tell the media how they should work, she noted.

"Here we are dealing with a violation of human rights, with a violation of the rights of media representatives. I want the US Embassy and the embassies of other countries operating in the territory of the Republic of Armenia to pay attention to this," the member noted.
