During a meeting with Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan Zakir Hasanov, Russia’s Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu said Russia isn’t interested in the escalation of tensions in Transcaucasia, and its actions aren’t targeted against the third countries in this region, TASS reports.

“We are aware of and followed with concern the events that were taking place on the border with Armenia. We also know about the alarms about flights towards Russia’s military base. I want to go ahead and say that all actions of Russia have never been targeted and still aren’t targeted against Azerbaijan, our neighbor and our partner. Russia isn’t interested in the escalation of tensions in Transcaucasia,” Shoygu said.

According to him, Russia is building non-military facilities at its military base in Armenia.
