YEREVAN. – Work is underway on the design of Armenian-made ventilators. Hakob Arshakyan, the Minister of High Technological Industry of Armenia, stated about this Wednesday while presenting the activity report on the high-tech industry of the country.

He noted that by the decision of the government, the Engineering Association was awarded a grant of 90 million drams, it held a respective tender whose winner was YEA Engineering, which has been issued a license from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory for the development and production of ventilators in the fight against COVID-19.

Arshakyan added that currently, the aforesaid design work continues in three directions. "Part of the engineers' work is nearing completion, the work on the model will be completed on September 3," he said.

According to the minister, in parallel, design works are being carried out based on the functionality of the model prototype, as well as a general programming of the system is carried out, and these works will be completed by October 16.

And the third direction, as per the minister, is the process of forming technical requirements. The lung simulator on which the abovementioned model prototype was tested will be delivered to Armenia in the near future. "Thirty-five million drams were provided as an advance payment whereby all the necessary components were obtained," Hakob Arshakyan stated.
