In an interview with Interfax, Iranian ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali spoke also about Tehran's position on the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict.

"First of all, I must say that we [Iran] are in favor of peace between our two neighbors [Armenia and Azerbaijan], and we believe that this war can harm both the peoples of the two countries as well as the peoples of the entire region. Therefore, Iran, maintaining neutrality on this issue, is working very actively with the persons in charge in our two neighbors. We have made the necessary efforts, calling on them to show restraint.

Second, we welcome the initiatives that will lead to a compromise between the two countries. And in particular the initiative shown by Russia through the mediation of President Putin when the two foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia came to Moscow and held talks.

Third, the moment is that we also welcome other the initiatives that can lead to peace in one way or another,” Jalali said in particular.
