During today’s press conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said the Government of Armenia understands that it is fully responsible and that it has signed under the document, based on its people’s interests.

“Yes, we see the demonstrations taking place in Yerevan and how the opposition is trying to speculate during this situation. Unquestionably, there are sincere people who are offended by the way everything ended in this stage, but there shouldn’t be illusions that the 7 regions around Nagorno-Karabakh were going to stay the way they were. I believe the responsible authorities had to explain to the population that it would be necessary to settle the situation in a certain stage based on the principles which, as I have already said, have been on the table for years. In my opinion, this was an ideal path to settle the conflict without bloodshed and without causing harm to the security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and other ethnic minorities living in Nagorno-Karabakh. Of course, the de-blockage of all the transport and economic communications must play a huge and positive role in Armenia’s economy.

According to the agreement that has already entered into force, those ties are being restored. I am certain that if we fulfill all the agreements, everyone will be in favorable positions.”
