The state of California certified the results of the presidential election: as a result of the counting of their votes, the US presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, Joe Biden, was given 55 electors from the state, officially providing him with the majority of the votes necessary to win the election, the Associated Press reported.

State endorsement for Biden's victory gave him 279 electoral votes, while only 270 electoral votes were required to confirm the victory.

Electors will gather in their states on Dec. 14 to formally vote for the winner of their state's popular vote, a move that was upheld by a Supreme Court ruling this year.

The House of Representatives and the US Senate will also hold separate votes to resolve any disputes.
