Salary increase can’t help solve the issue of independence of judges. Gagik Jhangiryan, candidate for member of the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia, said this in response to deputies’ questions during today’s special session of the National Assembly.

According to him, there are deeper issues in the judiciary.

“The problem with independence of the judiciary must be fully solved. Basically, salary increase is just one of the factors, but it won’t help solve all the problems,” Jhangiryan explained and noted that the overcrowdedness of judges also has an impact on the quality of the judiciary.
