There are geopolitical centers to which a strong Armenia, which is also an ally of Russia, hinders. The second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, said this in an interview with three media outlets on Wednesday, answering the question whether all this was planned 10 years ago.

"And therefore, yes, work was always going in that direction. (…). I have always seen that attitude. If you have noticed, during these 2.5-3 years, this [Armenian] government was forgiven by the West for everything they were doing—dismantling the Constitutional Court, pressuring the courts—, no one was opening his mouth. If every former [Armenian] government would do half of half of it, they would just ‘eat’ [it]. And this is the best indicator of who pursues what interests," Kocharyan added.
