Former President of France Nicolas Sarkozy is ready to apply to the European Court of Human Rights to prove his innocence.

Sarkozy told Le Figaro that even though it is a pain for him to sue his own country, he is ready for this since it is the price to pay for democracy. Sarkozy added that he won’t run in the elections in 2022, but he will support them.

Yesterday a French court declared Sarkozy guilty of corruption and sentenced him to three years of imprisonment, two of which are conditional.
