The Islamic Republic of Iran is in favor of seeing problems in this region solved peacefully, with respect for the territorial integrity of countries and the right of the peoples of those countries. This is what Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif told reporters in Armenia.

“Any escalation that causes deaths is a matter of concern for Iran. Iran wants to see this issue solved as quickly as possible. Yesterday I had a thorough conversation with the President of Azerbaijan and felt that he intends to reduce the tension and lead a dialogue over peace. I will also be consistent to have a similar conversation with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, and today I also had a talk with the foreign minister. Iran wants to help achieve a peaceful solution,” Zarif stated.

In his turn, Armenia’s acting Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian stated that Armenia is in favor of resolving this recent tension through political and diplomatic means.

“Once again, I would like to mention that Iran is a very important neighbor and partner for Armenia. It is a key role-player for stability and security in the region, and Armenia will work with Iran to deepen the interstate cooperation in many sectors and through political dialogue,” he said.
