Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan today received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, as reported the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the effective cooperation between Armenia and Iran and emphasized that the newly formed governments in both countries will convey additional impetus to the bilateral ties.

The parties attached importance to the expansion of cooperation in the areas of trade and economy and considered the prospects for increase of volumes of the “natural gas for electricity” plan.

Mirzoyan and Zohouri also touched upon regional security and stability. The Armenian foreign minister stressed that Azerbaijan’s provocations and aspirations for the sovereign territory of Armenia undermine the efforts for peace and development in the region and mentioned that Armenia highly appreciates Iran’s position on the country’s territorial integrity.

The parties also discussed the situation on the Goris-Kapan motorway. Mirzoyan informed about the course of construction of an alternative road and the North-South highway.
