Taron Sahakyan, whose body was transferred from Baku to Yerevan yesterday, was a Senior Lieutenant and a veteran of the 44-day war [in Nagorno-Karabakh]. He was born in Voskepar village of Tavush Province, moved to Koghb and also lived in the Russian Federation for a while. A few months ago, he started military service at the regiment in Jermuk. Sahakyan’s father is also a serviceman based in Yerevan, and the mother lives with the son’s family in Jermuk.

During a conversation with Pastinfo, resident of Koghb Arsen Aghababyan said he had seen Taron a year ago and was recently told that he is in Armenia and is serving for the homeland. The news about the return of Taron’s body from Baku proved the news that Taron had fought until the end and was then captured. There are unspecific data that the Armenian side captured the enemy’s servicemen during the Azerbaijanis’ provocation, after which the Armenian side received an order to release them. Taron, who had captured the enemies, released them, after which he was captured.

“Based on the data that we have, the Armenian side captured the Azerbaijanis. The Armenians received an order to return the Azerbaijani captives, and the boys did just that and were captured. Based on our data, the body of Taron was terribly tortured. I don’t know what kind of a sheep gave the order to release the Azerbaijani captives. Based on the data that we received, Taron was brutally killed, even beaten to death. I saw the photo and still can’t come to my senses,” Aghababyan said.

Lurer.com informed that it had talked to Taron Sahakyan’s brother, who refuted the news that his brother had been captured and that his body was tortured and unrecognizable. “I’m currently at the morgue, there is no such thing. My brother wasn’t captured, and he wasn’t tortured to death. Taron died from a fracture that he received after a grenade explosion on the spot,” Roman, the brother, stated.

As already reported, on November 17, through mediation of Deputy Commander of the Southern Military Okrug of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov, the body of a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Armenia who participated in the battles that took place after the Azerbaijani provocation on November 16, was transferred from Baku to Yerevan via a special flight. The serviceman was identified, and it was reported that he was Senior Lieutenant Taron Sahakyan (born in 1990).
