Artsakh has some direct ties with some representatives of international organizations, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Minister of State Artak Beglaryan told a press conference Tuesday.

"Often these are not official contacts. We can convey our opinion that way, but the main contacts take place through Armenia—in particular, of the diplomatic corps," the state minister added.

He confirmed that the international isolation of Artsakh has deepened after the war in the fall of 2020.

"Azerbaijan is making every effort for that. Until now, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs have not visited Nagorno-Karabakh—‘thanks’ to Azerbaijan. The same goes for UNESCO, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights. That is, it refers to all those who were announcing their readiness to visit Artsakh. Even a timeframe was being noted—but it never came. The reason is the blockade of Azerbaijan. It is a pity that that international organizations are subject to the illegal, inhumane actions of Azerbaijan, especially since the protection of human rights and the resolution of humanitarian issues are among their functions. Human rights must take precedence. International organizations must be bolder. My [past] experience as an ombudsman [of Artsakh] attests to their lack of courage.

At the same time, after [Azerbaijani president] Aliyev mocking the [OSCE Minsk Group] Co-Chairs, those countries should not only have visited Artsakh without taking into account Azerbaijan's opinion, but also recognized if not the independence, at least the fact of the Artsakh people's right to self-determination, especially after the war. Because as a consequence of the war, all the main issues being discussed are either resolved or violated—except for the right to self-determination. And the more they follow the cowardly policy, the more brazen Azerbaijan will become," Artak Beglaryan emphasized.
